Уважаема общност на училищния район Utica City,
Yesterday, a serious incident occurred near Proctor High School in which a Mohawk Valley Community College student was struck by a vehicle. She was transported to the hospital, and our hearts are with her and her family as we hope for her full and speedy recovery.
This matter is being taken with the utmost seriousness. The Utica Police Department and the Utica City School District are working collaboratively as the investigation continues, and there will be appropriate consequences for those involved.
In addition to supporting the ongoing investigation, we are reviewing our own practices to help prevent incidents like this from happening again. This includes evaluating our security procedures, staffing levels, and arrival and dismissal processes. We will also be working with students on road safety in and around school zones, and partnering with the Utica Police Department to explore ways to better coordinate during high-traffic times, ensuring safer conditions for everyone.
We share the community's concern and want to be clear: safety is and will remain our highest priority. We hear you, and we are committed to making the changes needed to protect the well-being of all our students and neighbors.
Thank you for your continued support as we move forward together.
Искрено
